Description
Iodine has the ability to resist radiation and disease and is necessary for the thyroid gland to perform properly. The human thyroid gland is located in the neck, and all the blood in the body passes through the thyroid gland every 17 minutes. Because the cells making up this gland have an affinity for iodine, during this 17-minute passage the gland’s secretion of iodine kills weak germs that may have gained entry into the blood through an injury to the skin or the lining of the nose or throat, or from being eaten and absorbed by the digestive tract. Virulent germs are rendered weaker during each passage through the thyroid gland until they are finally destroyed. But only if the gland has its normal supply of iodine.
It is well established that the Iodine content of the thyroid gland is dependent upon the Iodine available in the food and water intake of the individual. If the Iodine intake is low, the gland is deprived of an element it needs to do it’s work.
Iodine promotes the excretion of toxic minerals, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium as well as the toxic halogens fluoride and bromide. In the May 2005 edition of “Nutrition and Healing,” Jonathan V. Wright, MD notes that his laboratory has also shown that Iodine helps remove toxic elements, including bromide and fluoride, from the bodIodine is also a protection against radiation.
This is where an iodine supplement can help.
Supplied with a dropper for convenient dispensing.
Supplemental Dosage (7%): One drop (roughly 3.5 mg).
Directions: Take 10-20 drops per day for general health. In times of bacterial or viral infection, take three tsp. (145 mg.) three times per week (i.e Monday, Wednesday, Friday), or as recommended by your health care practitioner.
Iodine should be taken just before eating a meal. This seems to enhance absorption as well as protecting sensitive stomachs from a potential upset. Iodine should be taken earlier in the day (before 2 pm) because for some it increases energy so much that they are unable to sleep.
Take Lugol’s iodine in a 200ml glass of distilled or purified water with one teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar or apple juice for slight acidification.
