Description
Self Heal (Prunella Vulgaris) is high in antioxidants, tannins, beta-carotene, and vitamins, it has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent properties. Over the centuries self-heal has been commonly used as an all-purpose healing herb for wounds like cuts, scrapes, and burns and for drawing out infections, such as abscesses and boils.
It has long been used topically as a poultice to help heal, acne, rashes, bruises, abrasions, sores, blisters, and other skin irritations. Self-heal helps to ease scarring, relieve the discomfort of eczema and condition skin after shaving. As a hemostat, it will stop bleeding.
Self-heal contains vitamins C and K, and thiamine. It also contains chemicals called tannins that might help reduce skin swelling (inflammation) and have a drying (astringent) effect on the tissues.
Medicinal Action and Uses:
Anti-Inflammatory – It is used as an anti-inflammatory and has anti-allergic activity.
External Uses – In western medicine it is used externally for treating minor injuries, sores, burns and bruises.
Styptic – The plant has a long history of medicinal use, and traditionally the leaves are applied to wounds to promote healing and staunch bleeding.
Ingredients: Self Heal herb, Wheatgerm Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Beeswax, Lavender, Chamomile.
Apply as needed onto the skin.
